We proudly present this itinerary to you bringing together the Hay Plains, Riverlands, Barossa Valley and the majestic Murray River. A highlight is sure to be our 3 night cruise aboard the Murray Princess.
Day 1 Tuesday 20th October 2020 D
Home – Parkes
After early morning pick ups, this mornings travel will see us visiting the Wellington Caves and Phosphate mines where we can go underground to see what remains. This afternoon we will continue on through New South Wales Central West to our overnight stop at Parkes. Accom: The Station Motel (Ph: 1300 979 746)
Day 2 Wednesday 21st October 2020 BD
Parkes – Hay
Starting this morning we take the opportunity to walk through the Henry Parkes Centre which is located just 1 block away from our accommodation. The Centre features restored old vintage cars and an Elvis exhibit of some of the highs and lows that Elvis Presley encountered throughout his life and career. You will see genuine artefacts from Elvis’ homes and items he wore or used on stage.
Bidding farewell to Parkes, we make our way to Hay and our stopover for the night. On our way into town you will notice we will be traversing on the Hay plains – It is one of the flattest places on earth with only 17m (56 feet) of difference in elevation between the highest and lowest point in the Hay Shire! Day 3 Thursday 22nd October 2020 BD
Hay Plain – Waikerie
This morning we enjoy a tour through the Outback Shearers Hall of Fame where we can experience the living and working conditions of the hardworking men and women who shaped the industry and learn about our shearing history.
Pushing on from Hay we make visit into Wentworth to enjoy a guided tour of the old Wentworth Goal which now stands as a reminder of those harsh and uncompromising days, when Wentworth stood on the edge of the lonely Australian inland.
Before departing we enjoy the spectacular junction of the Murray and the Darling rivers which together makeup the Murray- Darling river system; Australia’s largest. This afternoon we follow the Murray River to our stay at Waikerie, a quiet town on the

Day 4 Friday 23rd October 2020 BD
Waikerie – Mannum
After breakfast join the coach for a scenic drive to the Barossa Valley, Australia’s most famous wine growing region. Visiting the Barossa would not be complete without a cooking demonstration at Maggie Beer’s Farmshop, perched on the side of a huge dam surrounded by vines and olives.
Then travel to the Jacob’s Creek Visitors Centre for a tasting and informative wine making presentation before heading to
Mannum where we will board the Murray River Princess. Mid-afternoon the PS Murray Princess departs historic Mannum, the birthplace of the Murray River trade and communication, and heads downriver while you enjoy a Welcome Dinner.
As we cruise under floodlight to our overnight mooring at Mundurra, you may see nocturnal wildlife on the riverbank. Watch for kangaroos, hairy-nosed wombats, tortoises, egrets and many other species. Our on-board entertainer provides music for the night owls. Accom: Murray River Princess (Ph: 1300 729 938)
Day 5 Saturday 24th October 2020 BLD
Murray River Princess Cruise
In 1879 the first bridge to span the Murray River was built at Edwards Crossing, which quickly became the bustling township of Murray Bridge. After a hearty breakfast, choose to join a guided tour of the town’s historic landmarks and local
attractions or go on a wildlife tour at Monarto Zoo (additional cost). Those who choose to experience Monarto Zoo will arrive back on board the Murray Princess in time for lunch. This afternoon, as we continuing cruising upriver to our overnight mooring at Salt Bush Flat; you will have the opportunity to inspect the wheelhouse with the Captain. After dinner, enjoy being entertained by our talented crew.
Day 6 Sunday 25th October 2020 BLD
Murray River Princess Cruise
All ashore for the guided nature walk where our guide will share the secrets of the local flora and fauna. It’s a great way to get in a little exercise before the PS Murray Princess departs for the big river gorges and 90 metre cliffs of the upper river. Mid-morning, join us in the Sturt Dining Room for a special presentation on the bounty of food and wine produced in the riverlands. Just after Fromms Landing, we turn and head downriver to River View Lodge (near Piggy Flat / Coolcha) where our discovery vessel awaits for a wildlife tour. Travelling in small, personalised groups, we explore the maze of the river and the birdlife is amazing. Watch for darters, herons and egrets feeding along the river’s muddy edges.The afternoon offers a choice of bocce or fishing challenges before joining the Captain and Officers for pre-dinner drinks and the Captain’s Dinner and Dance.
Day 7 Monday 26th October 2020 BD
Murray River Princess Mannum – Adelaide
We head back to Mannum and after breakfast, we reluctantly say farewell as we arrive at the Mannum Wharf. Continuing our holiday we make our way to Adelaide taking in some of the local sights along the way. This afternoon we will check into our final accommodation for the tour and have a relaxing afternoon in Adelaide you might like to take the opportunity to explore this
vibrant city at your own pace, a leisurely stroll around the Botanic Gardens or even a ride on sightseeing bus? The afternoon is yours to explore or simply relax at our motel. Day 8 Tuesday 27th October 2020 BD
Adelaide – Home
This morning we will make our way to the airport to board our flight back to Sydney. Having arrived at Sydney our coach will be waiting to return you to your home or other specified drop off destination.

Private ensuite, air-conditioning, electric blankets, soaps, shampoo and towels; serviced daily. Each cabin is approximately 12 sq metres. Our outside Cabins open onto the outside deck and have picture windows. Our rooms are held on twin share basis. (If you require a double bed on our cruise an additional $180 per cabin will apply and subject to availability)
GENERAL HEALTH AND FITNESS
All Murray Princess passengers are required to complete our Passenger Cruise Contract prior to travel. In some destinations there are extensive sightseeing excursions by foot and which includes climbing of stairs (if you choose to participate).
We require a medical certificate of fitness to travel for passengers aged over 80 years. Please advise of any pre-existing medical conditions or health and mobility related concerns that may affect the normal conduct of the holiday package.
We welcome passengers with disabilities or special needs provided they are accompanied by a companion capable of providing all necessary assistance. Any disability or medical condition requiring special attention must be reported at the time of booking.
The Murray River Princess is a “cashless” vessel. Crew will request an imprint of your credit card (or a cash deposit) to which you can have your drinks etc. charged. The balance can be checked and authorised by you the night before disembarking.
