Day 4 Friday 28th October 2022                                      BD
Victor Harbour – Mt Gambier
This morning’s travel sees us passing through the village of Tailem before turning off the Princess Highway towards Meningie that nestles by the shallow Lake Albert and onto the world famous Coorong National park. Travelling alongside Long Bay we soon make our way into Mount Gambier for a visit to the Umpherston Sink Hole gardens. Originally beautified by James Umpherston around 1886, the overhanging vines are a sight to see, each evening the area comes alive with possums as they venture into the floodlit gardens to feed. Next we visit famous Blue Lake. Situated in one of three extinct volcanic craters, the Blue Lake exposes the crystal clear water that has filtered underground through the limestone, passing slowly beneath the city. Each year in November the lake starts its colour change from winter steel blue to brilliant turquoise blue and then in March changes back to steel blue. Tonight’s accommodation in Mount Gambier is at: Accom: The Presidental (Ph: 08 8724 9966)

Day 5 Saturday 29th October 2022                        BD
Mount Gambier – Warrnambool
As we bid farewell to Mount Gambier notice that this area was once an active volcanic region and the resulting geology is plain to see. Travelling on our way to our morning tea stop at Portland we
also find ourselves crossing the SA/VIC border. Enjoy the spectacular views as we travel into the seaside town of Port Fairy on our journey into Warrnambool, our overnight stopover. Accom: Olde Maritime Motor Inn (Ph: 03 5561 1415)

Day 6 Sunday 30th October 2022             BD
Warrnambool – Great Ocean Road – Geelong
Today we begin our journey along one of Australia’s most spectacular scenic drives, the Great Ocean Road. There are plenty of stops along the way to photograph the natural wonders including the Loch Ard Gorge, the amazing Twelve Apostles (historically), currently 8 Miocene limestone rock stacks jutting from the ocean in the Bass Strait and the Bay of Islands. The road winds along cliff tops, up to breathtaking headlands, down onto the edge of beaches, across river estuaries and through lush rainforests offering panoramic views of Bass Strait and the Southern Ocean at every turn. Pass through picturesque townships sheltered by cliffs and Norfolk pines. We visit the Port Campbell National Park to view the majestic Otways temperate rainforest from the gentle 600 metre long walkway that is 25 metres above the forest floor. Tonight we will be staying at Geelong, Victoria’s second most populated city and gateway to the Bellarine Peninsula. Accom: Rydges Geelong (Ph: 03 5223 6215)
