We welcome you to join us on this new version of our North Queensland tour. This tour has been especially designed to highlight the vastness and special atmosphere our Queensland outback towns have to offer without forgetting how to do it all in luxury in the comfort of our touring coach.
This tour covers it all; Tropical cities to dinosaur fossils, the Gulf of Carpentaria to an underground mine and breathtaking forests to the open country plains.
Day 1 Saturday 23rd May 2020 D
Home – Cairns
Today starts our adventure to Outback Queensland. After early morning pickups, we travel to the airport where we board our flight for our arrival into Sunny Cairns. After checking into our accommodation, take this afternoon to explore this beautiful coastal city. Day 2 Sunday 24th May 2020 B
Today is yours to explore Cairns at your leisure. Whether it be an excursion out on the Great Barrier Reef, a scenic helicopter flight, a journey on the sky rail gondola or just a stroll along the beach, the choice is yours. Tonight is also a night for you to have dinner out on the town or simply order at our motel.
Day 3 Monday 25th May 2020 BLD
Cairns – Georgetown
Today as we bid farewell to Cairns we head throughout the scenic rainforest area, making our way to the renowned Undara Lava Tubes at Mt. Surprise. Join a guided tour of these geological phenomena where you will gain a new appreciation of
Mother Nature’s power. Afternoon travel sees us to our overnight stopover at Georgetown.

Day 4 Tuesday 26th May 2020 BD
Georgetown – Kurumba
This morning we head West along The Savannah Way, through the historic mining village of Croydon. Today’s agenda includes a “rattling” journey on the historic Gulflander train from Critters Camp to Normanton. Making our way to Karumba, enjoy a sunset cruise aboard “The Ferryman” on the Norman River and into “The Gulf”. Tonight enjoy a beachfront dinner overlooking the beautiful Gulf of Carpentaria.

Day 5 Wednesday 27th May 2020 D
Kurumba – Mt Isa
Following the Burke & Wills Development Road South via Normanton, we head to our destination today – Mt Isa. Mt Isa is a city in the Gulf Country region, that came into existence because of the vast mineral deposits found in the area and the Mount Isa Mine is one of the most productive single mines in world history, based on combined production of lead, silver, copper and zinc.

Day 6 Thursday 28th May 2020 BD
Mt Isa – Winton
This morning we are descending into the Earth as we enjoy an underground mine tour! See how the tunnels are formed and shaped by the majestic boom drills and mucking units and get up close with the machinery to try your hand at the air-leg
drill. Afternoon travel sees us into the historical township of Winton.

Day 7 Friday 29th May 2020 BD
Winton – Longreach
Before Waltzing out of Winton, today will be like a step back in time as we take a walk through the new Waltzing Matilda
Centre, which has been rebuilt after a fire destroyed the centre in 2015. After this we head to the ‘Age of Dinosaurs’ for a
tour through the animals that came before us. This interesting exhibit has some of the best preserved dinosaur fossils found in Australia. Continuing out of town we have time for a “stretch of the legs” at the famous Walkabout Creek Hotel (of Crocodile Dundee fame) for a “quickie”, before heading onto Longreach. This afternoon enjoy a visit to The Stockman’s Hall of Fame- a brilliant centre exhibiting the life and the legends of the Australian Outback.

Day 8 Saturday 30th May 2020 BD
Longreach – Charleville
Before leaving Longreach we experience the adventure of the early days of flight in Australia with a visit to the Qantas Founders Museum. Take a peep inside the retired planes and learn of their fascinating history. Next on our agenda we arrive in Barcaldine for morning tea, the Garden City of the West. It was here 400 shearers gathered under what is known know as the tree of knowledge in 1891 for a series of meetings out of which The Australian Labour Party was formed. Afternoon travel takes us to our overnight stop of Charleville.

Day 9 Sunday 31st May 2019 BD
Charleville – Goondiwindi
Bidding farewell to Charleville, our course is set for Roma, where the Bottletree lined streets serve as a memorial to those who made the ultimate wartime sacrifice. Onwards to our lunch destination at St. George, on the banks of the Balonne River. Before checking in just inside the Queensland border to the home of the night, and home of the “Goondiwindi Grey”, whose memorial in Apex Park outlines his feats.

Day 10 Monday 1st June 2020 B
Goondiwindi – Home
Bidding farewell to Goondiwindi (aboriginal for “the resting place of the birds”), our course is set for over the boarder into New South Whales and to home. Along the way we will travel trough Narrabri and the vast crop growing area of the fertile Namoi River Valley.
